Fast on a phone, readable by Google
We build on Next.js because it renders on the server. Pages arrive as HTML, so they're quick on a mid-range Android and search engines can actually read them. If any part of your application is public-facing, that single decision often determines whether you rank at all.
Core Web Vitals get handled while the code is being written, which is the only point at which they're cheap to fix. That covers image handling, font loading, bundle size and layout stability, none of which is any fun to retrofit after launch.
Permissions, accessibility, the boring essentials
Authentication, role-based access, audit trails, data export, WCAG accessibility, UK GDPR obligations, error monitoring and backups. None of it demos well, but it's what decides whether the system survives real users.
We've built this for housing associations and public-sector clients where access control and data handling aren't negotiable, so it's well-trodden ground rather than something we work out as we go.

What is the difference between a website and a web application?
A website presents information. A web application does work: people log in, data changes, permissions apply and business rules run. If your users need accounts, or the system has to remember what they did last time, you need an application.
Why do you build with Next.js?
Because it renders on the server. You get pages that load fast on a mid-range phone and that search engines can read properly, without giving up the interactivity an application needs. For anything public-facing, a client-rendered single-page app is a real SEO handicap.
Can you take on an existing application?
Yes, we do it regularly. It starts with an audit of code quality, dependencies, security and hosting costs, after which we tell you whether to improve what's there or replace it, including the argument against whichever one we're recommending.
Do you handle hosting and infrastructure?
Yes. We design and run it on AWS or Azure, including deployment pipelines, monitoring, backups and cost optimisation. If you'd rather your own team ran it, we'll hand it over documented.
Will the application be accessible and GDPR compliant?
We build to WCAG 2.2 AA as standard, and handle the technical side of UK GDPR: data minimisation, retention, export and deletion, audit logging, access controls. For public-sector work we can produce a specific accessibility statement and the evidence behind it.
