Mobile App Development

Mobile App Development for iOS and Android

We build iOS and Android apps for UK businesses. One codebase, both app stores. We've been doing it with React Native since 2018, from a studio in Oxfordshire.

One codebase, both app stores

React Native means we write the app once and ship it to the App Store and Google Play. That usually halves the build cost. More to the point, it halves the cost of every change you make for the rest of the app's life.

Some things still need the platform directly, whether that's background location, a particular piece of hardware, or a vendor SDK with no bridge. We write those parts natively in Swift or Kotlin and keep everything else shared, so you're only paying for native work where it actually buys you something.

We handle the app store submissions

We take care of the developer accounts, signing certificates and provisioning profiles, the store listings and screenshots, the privacy declarations, and the review process itself. The accounts go in your company's name, so the app and the listings belong to you.

Once you're live, over-the-air updates let us push copy fixes and most feature tweaks the same day, without waiting on a review queue.

The backend comes with it

An app is rarely the whole product. Usually there's an API behind it, an admin portal, payments, single sign-on, push notifications, somewhere for the data to live. We build that too, so nothing falls down the gap between the app and the systems it depends on.

TenantWise is the clearest example: a tenant mobile app, a matching web portal, and a multi-tenant backend underneath it, used by several thousand housing association residents.

Fixed scope, fixed price

We work in two-week sprints. At the end of each one you get a build you can install and use. Putting the app on a real device early is the quickest way to find out an assumption was wrong, while it's still cheap to fix.

Most projects take eight to sixteen weeks from kick-off to launch. We confirm which end you're at during scoping, and the price is fixed for what we agree.

How a project runs

01

Discovery

Who the app is for, what it has to do, and what's out of scope for version one.

Screens and flows you can click through, agreed before we write production code.

03

Build

Two-week sprints, each one ending with a build on your phone.

04

Launch

Submission, review and release, then monitoring, updates and support.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to build a mobile app in the UK?

It depends how much of the product already exists. If we're building on an API you already run, that's the cheap end. If you need the backend, admin portal, payments and integrations as well, it's considerably more. We scope it properly first and quote a fixed price for what we agree, so you're not signing up to an open-ended day rate.

How long does it take to build an app?

Eight to sixteen weeks from kick-off to store launch. A tight first version can be live in about eight, but add a custom backend, payments and third-party integrations and you're closer to sixteen.

Should I build a native app or use React Native?

React Native, for almost every business app. You get one codebase across both platforms, near-native performance, and something much cheaper to change later. Fully native is worth it for graphics-heavy games, or for an app built around something only one platform can do, and we'd flag that during scoping.

Do you submit the app to the App Store and Google Play for us?

Yes. Developer accounts, certificates, provisioning, listings, screenshots, privacy declarations, the review process. We register the accounts in your company's name, so you own the app and the listings outright.

Who owns the code once the project finishes?

You do. The IP transfers to you on final payment and the code sits in a repository your team controls. There's no lock-in and no licence to keep paying.

Do you maintain the app after launch?

Yes. Retained support covers OS updates, bug fixes, security patches, monitoring and new features. Apple and Google both ship breaking changes every year, so an app nobody maintains degrades on its own.
